Chris Garbutt

Chris Garbutt is the Head of Story on Bad Fairies with Rikke Asbjoern. He is the co-creator, writer, director, and executive producer of both the animated interactive Netflix movie, We Lost Our Human, and the Netflix/Nickelodeon animated series, Pinky Malinky.

Hailing from the north of England, Chris’ love for comics, cartoons, and storytelling has taken him from scribbling silly doodles on his bedroom floor in Yorkshire, to doing the same for studios in London, Paris, and Los Angeles.

He has worked in the animation industry in feature films, TV series, commercials, and short films for over twenty years, enjoying various roles from creating, show-running, executive producing, writing, directing, production design, and art directing, to storyboarding, character design and background design. He has worked at Dreamworks, Netflix, Paramount, Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Warner Brothers, Aardman, and DNEG, on animated projects such as the Gorillaz, Trolls, Puss In Boots, The Smurfs, Angry Birds, the Amazing World of Gumball, the Mr Bean Animated Series, Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, Robotboy and Stressed Eric.
