In 2003 he shot Diao’s directorial debut Uniform, in 2007, he shot Night Train which premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes that year and Black Coal, Thin Ice which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 2014. In 2011 Dong was Director of Photography on Xiaoshuai Wang’s 11 Flowers, which was nominated for Best Children’s Feature Film in the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, and also for Cai Shangjun’s People Mountain People Sea which premiered In Competition at the 68th Venice Festival.
