She also challenged Cecilia Brækhus for the undisputed female welterweight title in 2018.
In 2021, Reis made her acting debut as the star of the American thriller film Catch the Fair One. For her performance as a boxer endeavouring to rescue her missing sister, she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead. She has since starred in the mystery series True Detective: Night Country (2024), for which she received nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Critics' Choice Award.
