Sanne Dijkstra-Downie

Sanne Carlien Dijkstra-Downie is a Dutch-born Scottish politician and Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Edinburgh Northern constituency, elected at the 2026 Scottish Parliament election as a member of the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

Originally from the Netherlands, she relocated to North Edinburgh in the 2000's, where she has since lived with her husband and two children. She first stood for election at the 2017 City of Edinburgh Council election as a candidate for the Leith ward, and was elected as a councillor for the Forth ward at the 2022 council election.
