Back at the sugar mill, Mundica laments not being able to attend the dance and dances with Ciço. Mirinho harasses Alika and grabs her by the arm. Tonho comes to Alika's defense. Mirinho shoves him, and Tonho shoves back. Mirinho falls to the ground. Everyone reacts. Fortunato arrests Tonho.
