Edgard Varese's monumental Ameriques, inspired by the sounds of Manhattan's streets, is followed by Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 4 in G, played by the virtuosic Boris Berezovsky. The final work in the programme is Aaron Copland's great Symphony No 3, an evocation of North America's wide-open spaces. Presenters Charles Hazlewood and Suzy Klein examine new music initiatives and are joined by Julian Lloyd Webber.
