Rachel decides to help Bill: she will take Ariel to bed, and he must make sure Virgínia catches them in the act. Bill invents a story about a thief in the house and kicks everyone out. Tadeu, carried away by the music, grabs Bill. Selma leaves. Rachel throws herself into Ariel's lap and kisses him. Virgínia sees the scene. Isaura cries upon learning that Selma has left.
