Sampson's daughter, in critical condition, needs surgery that could leave her brain-damaged, and Sampson and her husband, Carl, disagree on how to proceed. Meanwhile, crime boss Jonah Malloy, a vicious antagonist but dedicated family man, is in New York for a big mob consortium when he gets some harsh and unexpected news — his wife, Janet, has been raped.
