Man Down

Having resigned his teaching post Dan is having a leaving party but it gets cancelled when the venue, Jo's shop, is repossessed whilst Daddy spitefully arranges to take Mum away for the weekend so that she will miss it. Brian has his own bad news but when there is a family crisis Dan and Nesta ally to put Daddy in his place and circumstances contribute to Dan changing his mind about emigration - even in the light of news from Emma.

Dan shares the shocking news of his adoption with his best mates and embarks on a search for a life that could have been. Brian's children are bored and a trip to the beach with Jo and Dan sounds far more exciting than their father's dull plans. But will Brian take the risk of getting sand in his beloved Renault Scenic and, more to the point, expose his kids to a day out with his ever-irresponsible friends? Cultural awakenings and jeopardy await.

Dan tries to keep his plan to emigrate to the USA moving, but with the complicated issue of a visa to negotiate he knows he needs to draw on all his inner strength.

Dan struggles to get his 'news' taken seriously, Brian meets the woman of his dreams, Nesta has a big problem to deal with, and 'Daddy' takes things up a gear with Dan.

After Jo announces she's marrying a digger-driving rapper from a 'pagan backwater', Dan decides he'll use his best man's speech to impress Miss Lipsey.

When pupil Dennis's uncle who is his sole guardian is hospitalized Dan volunteers to look after him for a weekend to impress Emma. Dan grudgingly accepts Nesta as the second mandatory adult but takes a reluctant Dennis cycling with him rather than hunting with her and recruits Jo and Brian for an adventure game which Dennis finds extremely boring. However the lad is suitably impressed when they end up accidentally attending a criminal's lavish funeral.

After an unwelcome appraisal of his teaching ability, fate conspires to put Dan directly into the path of his childhood nemesis. Jo comes up with a new money-making scheme and Brian is desperate to be published in the local paper.

Dan is sent on a diversity course after his complete lack of political correctness alarms headmistress Miss Lipsey, and decides to make an injured Brian part of his idiotic plans. At the beauty salon, Jo hits on the idea of combining two celebrity looks into one genuinely incredible makeover. Comedy, starring Greg Davies and Roisin Conaty

Brian finds himself nominated for a Small Business Award and Dan must quickly find a tuxedo and a date to impress his ex. There's also unrest at school when the class realise it could be the end of Space Mission.

Although still haunted, literally, by the ghost of his ex girlfriend, Dan ends up unexpectedly preparing for a date, with a little help from Brian. Meanwhile his dad offers him a terrifying insight into his own romantic past.

Brian introduces Dan to a guru with a secret, so unbelievably powerful, that he can only tell it to one person at a time.

Dan, unlike his ex-girlfriend, isn't invited to his niece's birthday party. Desperate to impress her, he manages to persuade the family that he can be trusted with getting the party ready.

Dan learns that his late father has left him a flat - provided the legacy is approved by Dan's direct and eccentric aunt Nesta, so Dan takes Jo and Brian to see her on her farm. Nesta sets her nephew tasks to gain her approval and he and Brian almost come to blows as a result, particularly over a runaway turkey. Having delivered a calf Dan gains Nesta's support and the flat but the turkey gets revenge on him.

The festive sci-fi school play, Scrooge 3000, and a terrifying yuletide tradition courtesy of his psychotic dad are just two of the Christmas challenges that threaten to reduce Dan's life to ruins.
