Series synopsis
The Young Montalbano, also known as Il Giovane Montalbano is an Italian crime drama mystery television series that premiered on Rai 1 on February 23, 2012. It ended on October 19, 2015. It was created by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli. It stars Michele Riondino, Andrea Tidona, Alessio Vassallo and Fabrizio Pizzuto.
The young "Commisario" detective Salve Montalbano, based in a village, solves mysterious crimes in Sicilia.

Montalbano's First Case Montalbano is deputy commissioner in a remote village in the Sicilian mountains. A local thug with a history of theft is murdered and the evidence points to an elderly shepherd as the killer. In the meantime Montalbano receives a promotion, and reassignment to the seaside town of Vigata, the town in which he grew up. With the help of veteran detective Carmine Fazio, and officer Catarella, he solves the case, and also unravels the mystery of why a girl attempted to murder a judge. |

Deputy Inspector Mimi' Auguello is especially eager to be picked as Salvo's wedding witness, but Salvo may well have other plans. |

Fazio seems distracted and Montalbano soon discovers that the young policeman has become involved in protecting a local family from death threats during his spare time. As the wedding preparations continue, Livia's and Salvo's relationship looks like it might have run into trouble. |
