Egypt & Jordan: A Solo Backpacking Adventure is a British documentary action & adventure television series that premiered on YouTube on May 2, 2019. It ended on June 20, 2019. It was created by Karl Watson. It stars Karl Watson.
I went backpacking around Egypt & Jordan for one month by myself. Egypt & Jordan are undoubtedly on most people's travel bucket lists, but I've always had the impression that the majority of people travel there on an organised tour.
So I wanted to give it a go by myself and see what it was like booking everything on the go, treating it like a normal backpacking trip.

EGYPT & JORDAN | Ep1: Solo Backpacking Egypt This first episode covers the 3 weeks I spent solo travelling around Egypt. Starting out in Cairo, I visited the Great Pyramids at Giza as well as exploring Islamic Cairo. Then I took the train down to Aswan, visited Abu Simbel before boarding a 2 day cruise on the Nile to Luxor. At Luxor I visited the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and other temples. Then I went snorkelling and scuba diving in the Red Sea at Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab. |

EGYPT & JORDAN | Ep2: Solo Backpacking Jordan This second episode sees my journey continue as I head into Jordan for 10 days. Starting out in Amman, I did day trips to the Dead Sea, Mt Nebo, Madaba, Umm Qays, Aljoun and Jerash. Then I travelled south along the Kings Highway passed Karak, Dana Reserve and Shobak before arriving in Wadi Musa to see the ancient ruins of Petra, featured in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Finally I head to Wadi Rum, the stunningly beautiful desert that’s been used in countless movies from Lawrence of Arabia to the Martian, and even Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. |
