Noos - The Adventure of Knowledge

The first episode of Noos, the new program conducted by Alberto Angela, kicks off, as per tradition, with spectacular images of nature. Among the guests we will have Harrison Ford, Samantha Cristoforetti who will guide us on an exciting journey into space, Alessandro Barbero, Carlo Lucarelli who will tell the story of Prussian Blue, "the color of the devil", Massimo Polidoro, Emmanuele Jannini, Elisabetta Bernardi, Luca Perri. Particular attention is paid to the theme of the environment: with an immersion in the depths of the Island of Giglio, we will see how a scientific team took care of the marine environment damaged following the sinking of the Costa Concordia. This first episode of Noos also pays special tribute to the memory of a great scientist, Margherita Hack, who passed away ten years ago on 29 June. The field in which Noos operates is very vast and with a particular eye to the future: what will be the new sources of well-being and prosperity?

In the second episode of Noos, the new program hosted by Alberto Angela, we will continue our journey in the Serengeti, the great plain between Kenya and Tanzania. We will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Italian Air Force by meeting the Frecce Tricolori. We will remain in flight with astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti who will tell us about the International Space Station, we will also pay particular attention to the theme of food and we will focus on how to safeguard biodiversity. We will touch on the topic of war, in this case that of Ukraine, and how food and politics are closely connected. These are just some of the topics covered on this occasion, in fact we will also talk about technology and much more.

The third episode of Noos opens with spectacular images of what is considered one of the seven wonders of the animal world: the great migration of one and a half million wildebeests and zebras in the Serengeti plains. We will then go to Genoa at the Italian Institute of Technology and discover the capabilities of a new Robotic Avatar, we will talk about the properties of coffee and the effects on our body, and there will also be experiments by Giuliana Galati and Ruggero Rollini! Thanks to a find in Albano Laziale we could have new information on the life and habits of the soldiers of ancient Rome, the historian Alessandro Barbero instead, will show us the physical characteristics of two great sovereigns. Our journey into space also continues with astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti who will tell us about the Artemis program. We will find out what are the new therapies to treat one of the most common cancers, colon cancer, in an increasingly effective way.

The program dedicated to dissemination returns and ideally continues the path of "Superquark", while presenting itself as a completely new story. Guest of the first episode is Russell Crowe, the unforgettable "Maximus" from "Gladiator" who, against the backdrop of the Colosseum, talks to Alberto Angela about his relationship with Rome, between archeology and cinema. A new authoritative guest also joins the "Noos" team: the director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii Gabriel Zuchtriegel, to talk about the daily life of Pompeians before the eruption of Vesuvius. A character much loved by the public returns, the actress and director Paola Cortellesi who gives voice to the animated character that tells the story of the alphabet. In the immersive and technological study of "Noos", astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti talks about the preparations for man's return to the Moon. International scenarios expert Dario Fabbri helps understand the world through geopolitics.

In this new episode Alberto Angela guides us to discover the Egyptian Museum of Turin, which this year celebrates two hundred years since its foundation, to discover the secrets kept in the most important collection of treasures outside of Egypt. Director Christian Greco illustrates all the upcoming innovations that the museum is preparing to celebrate its important anniversary. Alberto Angela then talks about dinosaurs together with the young paleontologist Alessandro Chiarenza, to discuss not only the latest discoveries on their fossils but also some surprising details on the appearance of dinosaurs, very different from those seen in the films. Important news for those suffering from genetic diseases such as thalassemia and sickle cell anemia. In a report filmed at the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome, prof. Franco Locatelli illustrates a revolutionary and very promising experiment capable of correcting the genome of diseased cells.

Alberto Angela goes to Pompei to discover a construction site from two thousand years ago, which was buried under the ash of the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. and recently brought to light by the excavations of the archaeological park in Regio IX. Also in the studio was an exceptional guest: the director of the Archaeological Park Gabriel Zuchtriegel. From the past to the future, a mirage that is now becoming a reality: the anti-cancer vaccine, based on the same technology as the "mRna" vaccines used against Covid, illustrating for which types of tumors it is being tested and what the hopes are for the future. About six hundred meters from the walls of the ancient city of Pompeii, in what was once its countryside, archaeologists are working on the remains of a large villa in the archaeological site of Civita Giuliana. "Noos" illustrates one of the most important excavations of recent years and not yet open to the public where unique finds in the world have been discovered. The cover of the episode is dedicated to aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery, a much-discussed and very current topic. Doctor Emanuele Bartoletti of the Isola Tiberina - Gemelli Isola Hospital in Rome and President of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine, and psychoanalyst and writer Massimo Recalcati, who also talks about the fragilities that hide behind the obsession with physical fitness, talk about it. The relationship between pets and humans is the cover theme of the new episode of "Noos - The Adventure of Knowledge". What are the behaviors and characteristics of animals, and what emotions do they share with humans? Elisabetta Palagi, Primatologist and Ethologist at the University of Pisa, will explore the themes of empathy between animals and humans, play, and the social dynamics that characterize them. To what levels of empathy can the bond between sapiens and animals reach? Are there stages or behaviors that allow us to understand the strength of the bond with our pets? "Noos - The Adventure of Knowledge" will be shown at the Applied Ethology Laboratory at the University of Padua, one of the few centers in Italy entirely dedicated to the study of dogs, where Lieta Marinelli and Paolo Mongillo study dogs' cognitive abilities.
