Fate Twisters, also known as 黑夜彩虹 is a drama television series that premiered on TVB Jade on June 2, 2003. It ended on July 1, 2003. It was created by Lee Tim-Sing. It stars Ada Choi Siu-Fan, Lawrence Ng Kai-Wah, Gigi Lai Chi and Eddie Kwan Lai-Kit.
This series is one of the sleeper-hits of 2003. Made with a low budget, it managed to garner good viewership ratings in Hong Kong despite being overshadowed by other high profile productions. Story-wise, Fate Twisters is unremarkable, playing on familiar scenarios such as a rich man finding his long-lost son, corporate ladder struggles, and the lives of the lower middle-class. Premise

Episode 1 SHANG is a truck driver. In an accident, HEI, as a passer-by, was the eyewitness to accuse SHANG, therefore they have become great enemy. SHANG’s mother died when he was ten years old, he has lived with his uncle, as well as a bettor, YIN. So he didn’t do well in his studies, but for fulfilling his mother’s last wish, he had finally got into the university, and was coincidentally in the same class with HEI. The son of YIN, DING, often creates troubles, SHANG was exhausted to run around for his debts, and has nearly been dropped out from the university. HEI was living with her sister, FUAN, and they have a very close relationship. One day, because of negligence, HEI has made FUAN’s baby nearly choked to death, so she ran to the street for help. SHANG passed by and picked them up to the hospital. Although the baby had been saved in time, but FUAN and her husband died in a car accident when they were hurrying to the hospital.… ... |

Episode 2 After six years of hard work, SHANG finally gets a degree in logistics. After graduation, he meets his old schoolmate, CHING. CHING persuades him to work together in Prosperous Company. To look after LUI, HEI drops out from school and works several part time jobs to strive for money. To make more money for importing goods, YIN rents out SHANG’s room. However, the tenants are HEI and her daughter. On SHANG’s first day of work, he has offended his supervisor, AMY. AMY asks SHANG to manage the fleet. Truck drivers: WEI, PAO and the others think that they have bonding with their elder staff, HIM, thus they do not agree with SHANG’s leadership. SHANG is irritated when he discovers that his room is occupied by HEI, but HEI has already paid one-year rent, and SHANG does not have extra money to compensate, so he could only accept her. Episode 3 AMY says good words for SHANG, and confronts with HIM and the other elder staff. CHI wants to patch up the quarrel and hope them reconcile to each other. CHI knows his company has a lot of problems, and determines to reform, but he doesn’t want to offend his cousin, HIM, so he asks AMY for help secretly. SHANG misunderstands AMY is materialistic and she has met someone bad to become a single mother. HEI pours water to him when she knows this. YIN induces HEI pay together for the goods. SHANG persuades her not to, but is scolded by HEI instead. YIN and DING smuggled telephones to the mainland and have been arrested. SHANG runs away and gives bail for them during working hours, and AMY is angry with that. YIN helps HEI to look after LUI, but she is taken away by the illegal debtor. HEI uses her savings to redeem LUI, and chases SHANG to pay the money back. SHANG refuses, and HEI jumps into the sea.… ... |
