STOP PRESS -BLUE PETER INDOOR RIDING SCHOOL OPENED BY PRINCESS ANNE That was the welcome news that greeted handicapped riders in Tyne and Wear this summer. The Indoor School was provided by some of the old wool and cotton donated by viewers to the Clothes Horse Race Appeal. Today PETER reports on the Official Opening and talks to some of the disabled children who are now able to ride whatever the weather.

Expedition USA Hollywood, Houston, New Orleans and Washington are all on the itinerary of Blue Peter's whistle-stop tour of the USA. Today Lesley and Simon join in the New Orleans 4 July Independence Day celebrations, complete with a dazzling fireworks display. The human members of the team look pretty much the same. but Goldie, TV's most famous golden retriever, has trebled her size since she last appeared on the programme! Blue Peter film cameras were down on the farm at Dethick, in Derbyshire, to record Simon's reactions to his monster pup on his return from the USA.

' He flies through the air with the greatest of ease.... the daring young man on the water skis.' Expert Christopher Wenner has been ski-ing on and over water since he was a 14-year-old in Central America's El Salvador. Effortless as it looks, a great deal of skill is involved, as LESLEY and SIMON discover when they have their very first water-ski lesson.

"Way down yonder in New Orleans..." Expedition USA Lesley and Simon explore the birthplace of jazz, ride a steam-boat on the mighty Mississippi and sample a Po'boy.

Expedition Egypt: Treasure and Camels Of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, only one still stands today, the massive Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycetimus, built by the Pharaohs, nearly 3,000 years before the birth of Christ. Fit for a Queen A teddy made of chrysanthemums, a koala bear with a plum for a nose and an owl sitting under a banana moon were just three of the hundreds of stunning floral displays admired by Her Majesty The Queen when she made her first-ever visit to Westminster Cathedral for the International Year of the Child Flower Festival. Blue Peter film cameras were there to record this historic event and so were nine Blue Peter viewers aged from five to 16 -winners of the Flower Picture competition. For Cristian, Kate, Una, James, Christine, Rebecca, Lesley, Jenny and Sarah, who were all presented to Her Majesty, this particular Friday the 13th was one they'll remember for the rest of their lives!

Expedition Egypt: Hall of Pillars Simon and Tina explore one of the Wonders of the World-the temple built in honour of the great god Amun, at Karnak. One hundred and thirty-four massive columns cover an area the size of Westminster Abbey, with the 12 largest big enough for 100 people to stand comfortably on each one!

Expedition Malaysia There's more than a touch of Eastern promise in this year's expedition! Simon and Sarah have explored one of the world's most exotic countries. Peter's keen to get into more action in "Blue Peter", and today he has a go at navigating Keying II, a 20-metre Chinese sailing junk, up the River Thames. In the studio there's the first-ever television appearance of Britain's record-breaking litter of 17 poodle pups.

Six-and-a-half thousand miles from Lord's and The Oval, Simon and Sarah watch the cricket at Kuala Lumpur's Selangor Club, explore the Sunday market on Saturday night and hold their noses as they sample 'durian' - the exotic tropical fruit that smells like a cowshed!

Expedition Japan: Who was the 'tall, fair-haired and very red-faced European' pulling the float at Kyoto's famous Gion Festival? None other than Simon, sweltering in 90°F, and that's how he was described by five "Blue Peter" viewers who just happened to be in the crowds lining the streets! But that was nothing compared with wading shoulder high into a sea of 50,000 eels, playing the part of a Samurai warrior at the Kyoto Movie Studios and coming face-to-face with the massive 30-stone Sumo wrestlers who make Big Daddy look a mere midget. Prince's Progress Goldie's puppy, Prince, spent his first night under canvas when he went to camp with the First Glen Hill Guide Company last month. All excellent experience for a trainee guide dog puppy who has to learn to ' be prepared' if he's to pass his tests and qualify as a pair of eyes for the blind. There'll be progress reports on his brothers, Buster, Sandy and Henry too, who are also being puppy walked. Beating just one forest fire in Canada takes a team of up to 360 men and women using helicopters, amphibious planes and giant caterpillar tractors for fire-engines. Peter had a narrow escape when he joined the crew trying to control a massive 160,000 acres of charred and blazing timber.
