In the surgical department of Holby City Hospital, surgeons Anton Meyer and Nick Jordan race against time to carry out a heart transplant operation, but first they have to make the difficult choice between two possible recipients, Alan Kenyon and Simon Harwood.

Nick Jordan is put to the test when he is the only cardio-thoracic surgeon available to perform an urgent operation.

Kirstie Collins, who is helping Muriel McKendrick with the trial of a new drug, finds a severe adverse reaction from a patient, and wants to alert the drugs company, but McKendrick warns her against doing so.

A serious road accident involving a motorbike cuts short the bus journey to work for Jasmine Hopkins & Julie Fitzjohn. Meanwhile, back at Holby City, new cardio-thoracic surgeon Alex Adams and new junior nurse Sandy Harper are immersed in a struggle to cope with the chaos caused by an infection scare.

Victoria Merrick is thrown into the deep end in pediatrics. Jasmine Hopkins's traumatic past helps her care for a patient who's convinced she has ovarian cancer.

When a well-known hospital fundraiser, John Wooldridge, demands a risky operation, Mike Barratt has to decide whether to refuse, or bow to management pressure.

Anton Meyer is seriously injured in a road-rage incident and is brought to Holby for an emergency operation. Mike Barratt's replacement Ric Griffin arrives. Alex Adams plays detective when he realises that the wife of an apparent road injury victim admitted at the same time is driving around in Meyer's car.

Anton Meyer proves not to be the ideal patient and his recovery suffers a minor setback. Alex Adams and Alistair Taylor have a clash of personalities. Keri McGrath finds herself in a compromising position with Liam Evans after Sandy Harper's 20th birthday party.

Keri McGrath is traumitised after her evening with Liam. A father learns of his daughters condition following the removal of a blockage from her airways. An obese patient refuses an appendectomy. Janice Taylor has another session of IVF.

Lisa assists with a home birth in the country, giving her an opportunity to enjoy her new car. However there are problems and Lisa has no choice but to take the woman to Holby. She is Carjacked, and has to perform the birth at the side of the road. Danny and Diane's relationship falters, and a blast from Mubbs's past turns up at the hospital - with disastrous consequences.

Tom has to lay down the law after Ed tries to ensure that a young patient gets a new heart. Danny and Diane's relationship is put to the test when they have to treat a suspicious abuse victim. Ben tries to protect a pregnant runaway with disastorus results.

Jess witnesses a car-jacking while jogging to work and she runs over to help the victim. She kicks one of the perpetrators and they run off. Jess then brings the victim to Holby where Robbie Waring also is admitted with injuries. Danny embarrasses Diane at the party which he persuades her to bring him to where Chrissie becomes the center of attention.

As DI Jane Archer investigates the recent deaths on Keller, Ric gambles away a small fortune to try and repair his relationship with his daughter. A patient is brought in who needs a gall-bladder operation desperately which has to be done at the Hadlington but her husband hasn't told her that they can't afford it.

As the police invstigations into the suspicious deaths continues, Stan Ashleigh is admitted to Holby with heart problems. In theatre Ric Griffin and Diane Lloyd ignore his requested DNR.

Chrissie finaly finds out about the relatioship between Owen and her mother and after a fight between the two, they both get suspended. As the police investigations continue a forensic psychologist is brought in to interrogate the murder suspects.

Chrissie visits Owen after taking a pregnancy test, fearing she may never be able to have children. Dean learns a lesson whilst shadowing Diane.

Encouraged by Sacha, Essie is having second thoughts about investing in Gaskell. But with Raf's legacy at stake, can Essie be assertive with Gaskell and find confidence in her decision? With worries for Ric ringing in her ears, Donna is concerned that Sacha is off his game. With potential disaster looming, Donna enlists Nicky to help her take matters into her own hands.
