The Kids from Room 402

Jesse gets the math book with the answers to the tests by mistake and it helps him become "smart". Because of this, he wins a prize at the math competition, but finds out that he has to answer the math questions in front of the whole school. Meanwhile, Nancy pretends that she has difficulty listening so she can sit up front with Penny, but instead she is sent to see the school nurse.

Nancy returns from her trip to Mexico ready to show off her tan and her new charm bracelet, but when class starts the kids are more interested in the choosing of the new crossing guards. When Miss Graves selects Polly and Arthur as the new guards, the kids soon discover that both her choices are a nightmare to have helping you cross the road. While Polly insists that every student learns the seven safety tips, Arthur begins charging people to cross at his corner. When Polly is almost hit by an ice-cream truck, Miss Graves learns that Arthur has been charging and forces him to use the money to buy Polly a get well present and when Arthur gets to the crossing the next day, he learns that crossing lights have been installed. Meanwhile Nancy's good luck bracelet goes missing and she tries to find out who has stolen it, only to discover that it was never stolen in the first place, it just got misplaced in her coat.

Jesse becomes an outcast after Freddie tells everyone that Jesse ate a piece of chewed gum that he found under his desk. Meanwhile, the kids try to watch a part of a documentary named "Chinook from the North."

Nancy persuades all of the other girls not to try out for a babysitting job so that she is sure to get it, but soon she and little Lara Johnston find out that they hate each other and Nancy gets the sack, but she is too embarrased to tell the others. Meanwhile Arthur sets up a ""personal"" babysitting service but hires the other kids to do the sitting for him.

Nancy is thrilled to be going to her grandparent's in Miami for summer vacation, but when she arrives she soon finds that things aren't as great as they seem. The other guests are boring, the restauraunt is horrible and no matter what Nancy tries she seems destined to be banned from using the pool. However when Polly arrives at the site she and Nancy manage to work together and have a great time, but as the two arrive back at school Nancy is still determined to stay away from Polly as much as possible.

Jessie is worried about failing the eye-test, but his attempts to cheat end up with him having to wear glasses, making it hard for him to see anything. Meanwhile, Nancy and Charlie are competing to be voted best athlete in the class and Nancy thinks she has worked it so that they will tie, but when Jessie is unable to see the ballot paper he accidentally votes for Charlie, winning him the vote.
