Healing Hands

LING and MAY`s happy marriage is endangered with the intrusion of a competitor. One day, LING attempts to commit suicide and is sent to hospital. LAI gives her treatment. LAI firmly believes that MAY is not loyal to love affairs and is not a responsible man. MOON`s gay lover abandons him. He is so depressed that SUN and LAI lead him to have a drink to conciliate him. In the bar SUN meets her former lover CHU. She is not happy. HO wants to sue MAY and KWONG for their improper surgery eight years ago. MAY has to confront challenges in his marriage and career.

MAY is depressed as he is frustrated by his marriage. Though the trial has started, MAY still has the confidence that he can overcome the situation. At last the case is settled outside the court. In a armed robbery, one of the gangsters request a doctor so that his colleague can be cured. YU is instructed to shoulder this task. A woman hostage faints in the bank. TUNG has to show up to give assistance. As the thief has lost too much blood, YU persuades other thieves to surrender in order to save his life. At last, YU`s attempt is successful. MAY and LONG celebrate with CHING for her eighteenth birthday. CHING makes the wish that she can celebrate her next birthday. However there is no suitable marrow to cure her blood cancer. LING packs her luggage and decides to divorce MAY.

CHING accompanies several students to the hospital. They were hurt in a fire. CHING collapses and it is proven that cancer has spread in her body. MOON`s mother tries to bridge MOON and IVY. LAI tells her that MOON is a gay. This does not affect their friendship. KIN is lurked and is hurt seriously. His elder brother visits him but is not welcomed. This reminds YU that his brother was killed as his brother wanted to protect him. He convinces KIN to change his attitude. YU passes the department of pregnancy and sees TUNG there. Their mutual understanding deepens. CHING`s wish can be realized. However the donor changes his mind. LONG begs the doctor to tell her the donor`s information. LING blames MAY that he has terminated the insurance policy. LAI witnesses their quarrel and her misunderstanding of LAI worsens.

LAI KWOK CHU, HENRY (LAM, BOWIE) has been the head of A & E at a hospital for two years. He disapproves of YU LONG PING, DOROTHY (CHAN KIE EE, KIT) replacing TONG CHI LAI, JACKIE (CHOI SIU FUN, ADA). CHANG CHI MEI, PAUL (NG KAI WAH, LAWRENCE) has achieved more in Neurology and is more popular among medical students. A beautiful, talented but cold doctor, ANSON MAN (SHIU MEI KI, MAGGIE), has just joined Gynaecology. Her only relative is a sister, SUKI MAN (YUEN CHOI WAN), who is an intern in the same hospital. ANSON is very touched by PAUL and JACKIE’s love story. KONG SUN YUI, ANNIE (CHAN WAI SHAN, FLORA) has put all her efforts into AIDS education since her brother died from it. She and HENRY are settled in their relationship. PAUL, HENRY and ANSON impress TRACY HO (MUNG KA WAI, YOYO) and MC CHAN (CHAN HO), who are from rich families and doctors too, when they work on the victims from a traffic accident.

PAUL has lived a simple life for two years since JACKIE fell ill. JACKIE’s father, TSUEN, is suffering from dementia but he remembers everything about JACKIE. TRACY and MC start working in the hospital and cause gossips. TRACY’s uncle YI (YU YANG) has a heart attack, but refuses an operation because of work. TRACY ignores his refusal. A woman is excited when she is informed that she is pregnant with a boy after giving birth to three girls. Unfortunately, ANSON suspects that she has lupus. KWONG (WONG TAK PUN) is now going out with PEACE (FU CHOR WAI). They own a cafe at a beach. One day, PAUL, HENRY and the others visit them there. During a game, HENRY is rude to PEACE and upsets ANNIE. PAUL and STEVEN (CHEUNG TUNG JO), the Head Medical Officer, discuss an elderly patient’s case and are annoyed by the relatives’ negligence.

PAUL accidentally finds out about TRACY and MC’s affair. MC upsets her when he tries to cover it up. All the interns feel overloaded with their work. SUKI loses her temper over EDMOND (TONG, MICHAEL) when she complains that he does not care enough about her. TSUEN’s ex-wife gets married again, but he does not get upset and his open attitude impresses PAUL. ANSON’s patient, WAI, cannot accept that he has dementia at his young age. TRACY’s father, YAN donates money to the hospital and invites PAUL and HENRY to a dinner party to thank them for saving YI. However, he is tied up with work and does not show up. ANSON has read about a cure in saving some patients like JACKIE and tells PAUL about it.

The staff at Yan Oi Hospital take a different view on lives as well as personal values after the SARS outbreak. CHING CHI MEI PAUL is performing a brain operation on a patient who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. As the operation is conducted when the patient is conscious, TSANG SUK KEI BETSY, an O & G (Obstetrics & Gynecology) intern, is present so as to learn from PAUL. Her superior, MAN ON SAN ANSON, is unhappy for her absence from her post without official. A & E (Accident & Emergency) consultant, LAI KWOK CHU HENRY, invites PAUL to her girlfriend, JAN’s, birthday party. HENRY knows then that PAUL is still in contact with his ex-girlfriend, HO SUM YIN. PAUL suspects that a female patient has contracted SARS. Since he is the Acting Executive Director of the hospital, he decides to activate the green alarm system, to block the relevant ward, and to strengthen the preventive measures.… ...

YIN’s elder brother, HO CHI WANG ALAN, points the finger at PAUL. A friend of PAUL’s, TAM YUNG MING EDMOND, happens to know FRANCES as well. PAUL asks EDMOND to give him a helping hand and ask FRANCES if YIN has killed herself. Nevertheless, EDMOND refuses to help him. HEUNG CHUNG YAN CHRIS, an A & E doctor, has a very bad impression on PAUL because he cut off his relationship with YIN on the very day she had an abortion. PAUL is puzzled about YIN’s death and would like to contact her boyfriend, who is in Canada. Cardiac Surgeon LAM MAN CHI MC rents an A-class office to set up his own clinic. The hospital is holding a press conference to inform the public about the sealing-off of the O & G ward. As the press goes after PAUL for YIN’s death, the new Executive Director, TANG TAT YIN TY, chairs the conference on behalf of PAUL.… ...
